South Padre Island 2009 Trip

Well, I finally got some vacation from both jobs and went on a much deserved trip with the family to South Padre Island. We've been planning the trip since December. Aaahh..the beach..the sun, and the Texas heat! Here are some key events that happened on our trip.

• On Monday morning, as I packed the car hoping to leave early, David informed me that I had a flat tire. I had just put the last piece of luggage into the trunk. Had to unload everything..put on a spare..then drive to the tire place to get a new tire. This took over an hour.
• I enticed my niece and nephew to watch "Jaws 2" with me several times while vacationing on the beach. Luckily..they didn't get paranoid about sharks.
• The resort was overcrowded with pre-teen boys checking out my niece. David was not a happy camper. LOL
• Had the kids in the beach and pool as much as I could. Some things never change..I didn't want to leave and exclaimed.."aaaahhhh man" if we needed to get out of the pool.
• I let Erica watch some scary movies and then we stayed up all night giggling in the room. At one point David had to leave because he couldn't get any sleep because we wouldn't shut up. (David was sleeping on the floor)
• I should never be roommates with my niece..we laugh way too much and get in trouble all the time! lol
• Watched a lot of Spongebob Squarepants and ICarly...and I liked them!! lol
• I finally read the warning flags put out by the condo and discovered the purple flag meant "Dangerous and venemous wildlife in the waters"..good thing I read that on the last day or I would've never went into the ocean!!!

A bad week last week..

Well, we had to put my baby Boots down last Tuesday. He went in for one last exam on Monday and the news was not good. Mom called me to let me know. I was devasted. I took Tuesday off and spent the entire day with him until we had to take him to the vet. I'm glad I got to be with him and hold him. I cried as I held him when I was left alone with him. He was soooo my baby. I used to hold him over my shoulder, like a baby. Ha Ha..he hated that I'm sure, but I did it everytime I was at Mom's. I never thought I'd get attached to a cat like I did with him. We had him for 15 wonderful years and he acted like a kitten right up until the end being playful and loving. I know losing a pet is part of being a pet owner, it's just not something you think about until it's that time. I'm doing better and I went to my mom's today. I had to laugh because my parents had some cement laid down last summer and Boots did his thing and left his mark. Two sets of little paw prints right by the back door! That made me smile.

Well, then of course, the big media news of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passing. Farrah..I remember wanting to be just like her. Mom used to feather my hair like her's so I could be "Jill Munroe" of Charlie's Angels. (No, I didn't remember her name..I was just watching an episode earlier today. ha ha) Michael..I was a fan of his music. I thought my dad was sooooo cool when he brought home the "Thriller" album in England. Probably one of the few times we agreed on music. Ha Ha..

David was in a car accident on Thursday evening. Someone rear-ended his vehicle. The person was on a cell phone and not paying attention. (Note to self..be careful about talking on the phone and driving..) He's ok, just sore and shook up by the whole thing.

Spent the weekend at my mom's and chatted with David. We went to a movie, "The Proposal". If I was feeling down about reminciscing about Boots...that movie definitely cheered my up! Haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Well..hoping this week goes by fast. Getting ready for a nice 12 day vacation! (From BOTH jobs!!)

Boots..

So, we've had our cat Boots since about 1996. Unfortunately he's been ill lately. He's been at the vet since Monday and they're keeping him until tomorrow or Thursday. I hope he gets better..I hate letting go of my cat. I've been trying to understand how to deal with the loss of yet another pet. I don't think I will get another pet after this one. This is too hard because they really are like part of the family. I'm very sad right now...well, at least he was loved sooo much by our family. I just have to think positive that he will be alright.

Welcome to my Blog!!

Well, I finally started my blog. I signed up for this months ago and have procrastinated even starting this. Now I have finally made the time!! Yaaaaaay! So, I only have one follower..shout out to Jennifer!!! (and thanks for reading this..I need to get Carrie on my list)
This is gonna be short and sweet today, being my first blog and everything.
I will do a quick 6-month recap..ready? Ok..so, January thru May I worked at IRS part-time. Been doing this for yeeeeaaars. (9 actually..weird!!) I work weekends..makes for a busy schedule, but I do like it. I have no life because I have to be there at 3am until 11:30am. I was offered to stay for the rest of the year, so I took it because given the economical issues, I thought it wouldn't be too bad for the budget to have that money just in case. February..had a successful surgery and am feeling 100% better! I recently started working out again because I've gained sooo much weight. Debated joining Weight Watchers again..but decided not to..I still have the books from the last 3 times I joined. I should be able to put points on all my food.
Well..so far this year has been great! Hopefully I will become good at this blogging thing because it is a great way to keep everyone up to date on things happening..and a great way to stay in touch! More blogs to come soon... :)
